Not to be confused with Henry Tilley, who died in Stokes Co NC in 1833. Henry Tilley believed born in Va circa 1745/1754 who died in 1833 may be the son of the Henry Tilley, whose will is on this page.

Last Will written in 1789; Henry Tilley died in 1790, NC.

I, Henry Tilley, though weak in body, yet of sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my last will and testament and desire it may be received as such.

I most humbly give my soul to god who gave it. I give my body to the Earth from whence it was taken, to be buried at the discretion of executors hereinafter named.

I give to my son, Lazarous Tilley, all my land that belongs to me lying and being on the waters of the Arrarat, and including the plantation where I now live and all the appertuances there unto to him and all his heirs forever.

I give to my son Lazarous all my land lying and being on Snow Creek and all the appertuances thereunto to belong to him and his heirs forever.

It is my will and desire that the Negroes and all my movable estate be sold at the discretion of my executors at public sale and the money be divided equally among all my children and I desire that the sale of the Negroes be at a place known as Stone Chimney.

And I will to my son Edmund Tilley, ten pounds of Virginia money to be taken from my estate, and I hereby appoint my son Lazarous Tilley and William Hawkins my executors of this my last will and testament. Witness thereof I have set my hand and seal this 13 day of September 1789.

State of North Carolina, Surrey County, February term A.D. 1790. The executors of the last will and testament of Henry Tilley deceased was probated in open court by the oath of Jess Dunagan? subscribing witnesses thereto who swore that he was of sound and disposing mind and memory and at the same time saw Thomas Dunagan? and Jesse ---? sign the same as witnesses which was ordered to be recorded, Done accordingly by Joe Williams, J.P.
